“Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, USA, taken while I was doing a loop walk around one of the canyons. I turned a corner, saw this incredible and beautiful scene and realised immediately that I had to photograph it. I only had time for a few frames because people were queuing up behind me.”

Digital Camera says: There are so many layers here to let your eyes run wild back and forth across the image. It was a wise choice to punch in and capture the detail rather than shoot wide to display the entire landscape. And faithful natural colours, too – all too regularly we see images like this ruined in post-production with unnecessary HDR-scaping.
