QI intend to go mirrorless and change my camera make. Other than the obvious camera and lens decisions, what else do I need to think about in terms of cost?

We do tend to think only in terms of the cost of the main camera, but there are several other ‘hidden’ costs to consider when budgeting: new batteries (at least two); the appropriate charger; potentially a different memory card type if you are currently shooting CF cards; filters to fit the threads of your new lenses; a remote release; and an external flashgun.

List everything you currently regularly use, as that’s what you’ll want to replace when you switch systems. It’s worth talking to your camera dealer and seeing whether they’ll offer you a package deal.
