1 Start a New Year photo project to stay active
Take pictures of the same scenic view throughout the year to capture the changing seasons, then combine the best ones in a grid for printing
Setting yourself a year-long photo project is a great way of keeping active with your camera. Whether it’s the challenge of photographing a single theme, such as reflections or shots taken in the golden hour, or different wildlife throughout the year, it’s a great way to learn new skills and add extra images to your portfolio.
In 2021, we set ourselves the challenge of photographing the same landscape scene from an identical perspective throughout the year, so we could clearly display a series of pictures together to show four distinctly different seasons. We’re happy with how it turned out, although we’re hoping for more snow this year – and the odd spell of lightning might add some extra drama to our spring quadrant.
We explain how it’s done and tips we’ve learnt along the way so you can try it out for yourself.
