Gary’s top five tips
Make shooting long exposures easy
1
“Create a custom mode that you can assign to a dial or button, which contains all of your long-exposure settings.”
2
“Try to use the best-quality filters you can afford. If you’ve got a decent lens, the last thing you want is poor-quality filters ruining your setup.”
3
“For a speedy start, I often pre-load filter holders with my preferred ND and ND grad filters.”
4
“You should always use a remote trigger. If you don’t have one, then you can always use the self-timer.”
5
“Don’t put your bag down: keep it on your back. The tide can come in so quickly that it might end up wet.”
