Phil’s landscape tips

-

The most important part of capturing the image you envision is the planning you put into it. This is followed closely by luck because, as Burns wrote, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. When you’re searching for a suitable location to use a wideangle lens, a strong foreground subject that takes advantage of the distortion provided by the lens is important. Without this, you may find that the main subject seems too distant.

Take a tripod with you: this will aid in composing your image, as well as maintaining sharpness at slow shutter speeds. It can be a good idea to replace the tripod’s rubber feet with metal spikes that dig into the earth.
