Four things to consider in bird photography
Open up the aperture
Wider apertures produce a shallower depth of field – the foreground and background have blended around the head of this Northern gannet.
Zoom in or crop…
Zoom right in to fill a frame, or crop into images when you edit them. Also consider positioning: the central framing of this blue tit works well.
Think outside the box
Shooting at sunset can produce creative wildlife imagery. This image of a bird amongst branches at sunset creates a graphic feel.
… or zoom out!
Zooming out of images can also create eyecatching photographs, as seen with this flock of birds. A very fast shutter speed is required.
