Complementing the far more affordable f/11 RF super-telephotos that the manufacturer launched in 2020 is this pair of top-end primes with price tags to match. The brand’s shortest and lightest-ever 800mm L-series lens, the RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM weighs in at just over 3.1kg. The RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM is “the world’s longest AF focal length lens for mirrorless cameras,” says Canon, and is 13kg lighter and 30cm shorter than its EF-mount sibling for DSLRs. Both of these new RF optics feature nine-blade apertures and Canon’s top-tier lens coatings, plus no end of cutting-edge lens technology inside. www.canon.co.uk; £19,099.99/$16,999 (RF 800mm f/5.6). £22,449.99/$20,000 (RF 1200mm f/8)
