Juicing up

Q I’m using Energizer rechargeable batteries in my flashgun, but they don’t last particularly long. Can you suggest batteries with a little more juice that will allow me to shoot for longer?

It’s important we all do this as much as possible for the sake of the environment, so it’s good to use rechargeables. In terms of battery life, you need to look at the capacity, which is measured in Milliampere Hours (mAh). The higher the capacity of the battery, the longer it should last, so in theory you get more flashes. The highest capacity of the brand you are using is the 2300 mAh of the Recharge Power Plus, so maybe the ones you are using have a lower capacity? But there are also rechargeable AAs available that have a greater capacity. Over time, even rechargeable batteries will begin to lose their capacity, so if you have had yours for a few years, it might be time to explore your options, keeping an eye on the mAh of what you buy. Efficient rechargeable batteries are a prudent option for both your wallet and the environment. www.digitalcameraworld.com
