How to sell images for book covers

Sales director Nash Mascaro explains the process: “The contributor will produce their best work, having used their own experience of the cover market and our trends data to identify imagery that works for the publishing industry. They upload their strongest selection of work and it then goes through a number of layers before approval. All submitted images are reviewed manually, first by myself and then again by Michael, the company’s founder. At the end of that process, you have a tightly curated set of images that have been reviewed multiple times not just for their quality, but their saleability and relevance to international publishers.”

Arcangel does sign new photographers, but adds Nash, “The application process itself is pretty easy but getting into our image library is no walk in the park.”
