See exposure in real time

-

QI’ve been given a second-hand DSLR that has something called Exposure Simulation in the menu, but I can’t work out what it’s for. Can you help? Tom Hurt

AExposure Simulation is a function that allows you to see the exposure in real time when you are viewing the scene via the LCD screen. When you’ve enabled it, switch to Live View and then change the exposure using either plus or minus exposure compensation. It’s really useful to use for getting a sense of exposure accuracy, but remember that if you are looking through the optical viewfinder your camera has, you won’t see the actual exposure or it changing when you use exposure compensation. You must be in Live View mode to see the effect.

?? ?? You can see how exposure levels affect the image in real time with the assistance of Exposure Simulation in Live View.
