Native is New Zealand’s first ‘Hard Sparkling’, a light (4.6% alc) beverage made from sparkling water, fermented, distilled cane sugar, a dash of real fruit and a hint of stevia. Available in three flavours, Apple & Feijoa, Berry & Blackcurra­nt & Lemon & Yuzu (my favourite), it’s made similarly to beer; however instead of fermenting malt, cane sugar is used. Plus, proceeds from every sale to toward kauri dieback prevention, Maui and Hector’s dolphin preservati­on, beach clean-ups and sustaining native New Zealand species.
