Can you tell us a little more about Pioneer Block?

Saint Clair owners Neal and Judy Ibbotson are pioneering viticulturists in Marlborough with over 30 years’ experience. The Pioneer Block range are small parcel wines that are handcrafted to reflect the unique influences of terroir on grape varieties grown in different areas or subregions (such as the Gimblett Gravels). All Pioneer Block wines are given a number according to the vineyard from which they were grown. These wines are of limited supply and truly express their unique sense of place.

What would be your ultimate food match for this wine?

I would recommend any slow-cooked meat dishes, lamb or high-quality beef.
