PRISON RELEASE

-

So new, it hadn’t even been labelled when it won a top trophy at the Hawke’s Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards last October, Trinity Hill’s Single Vineyard Prison Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 ($120) is finally available. But only just. A mere 60 dozen bottles were made of this Gimblett Gravels-grown giant of a wine. “It’s a celebration of both the region, and the soil,” adds marketing director Michael Herrick. Sourced from one of the stoniest parts of the gravels, it was also earmarked as the site for the original Mangaroa Prison. “We’ll be forever thankful that those in office in the 1980s figured out the soil was very special, and better suited to vines over villains,” says Michael. trinityhill.com
