Organic wine producer, Greystone, has opened a new-look cellar door and eatery at its vineyard in Waipara, North Canterbury. Headed by acclaimed chef and forager, Melany Wright, the eatery now offers sharing plates made from locally grown, organic and foraged produce. General manager and founding viticultur­ist Nick Gill says Mel’s food aligns perfectly with the team’s ambition to provide an authentic North Canterbury wine and food experience. “We make wine that reflects our environmen­t, so it made sense to develop a menu that captures both season and provenance. Mel is renowned among chefs in New Zealand for her foraging skills as well as her ability to tell a story of place through food. There’s something very special about being able to share North Canterbury food and wine in this way,” says Gill. Greystone Cellar Door & Kitchen is open daily from 10am-5pm.
