LORDE – PURE HEROINE

You know you’re listening to a new generation when the word iPhone gets dropped into a song for special effect. With a voice not far removed from Birdy, but with sounds that are both radio-friendly and repeat-play-friendly, 17-year-old Lorde’s album has already flashed the world’s charts. While there’s something of a sameness to the music (spluttering revved up trip-hop), Lorde’s feisty teen spirit matches her disheveled locks. The big question is whether she’s a one trick pony, or can stretch herself for a career that outlasts her teen years. At the moment, though, she’s the Kiwi queen of indie pop so maybe we should focus on this addictive fix of Pure Heroine.
