In the early 1960s, a series of striking photographs appeared in male physique magazines and were attributed to Les Demi Dieux studio. They were the work of Danny Fitzgerald. His photographs displayed “the technical mastery and restrained sensuality of earlier male nude photographer George Platt Lynes, though less theatrical and with greater realism”. But until the release of this new book, he remained relatively unknown. Particularly striking is his collaboration with “chiseled masculine beauty” Richard Bennett who became both his muse and also his life partner. The images are startling for the full frontal nudity regularly featured and also for the youth of some of his models.
