DNA: Congratulations on winning the Manhunt Singapore pageant. What are your responsibilities? Jason Chee: Honestly, there aren’t many responsibilities except for holding up a positive image because I represent my country. Winning Manhunt fourth runner up internationally did help boost my publicity over the world and I am glad that I’m able to share my fitness journey with more people and inspire them. For those who have never been, what’s the best thing about Singapore? Actually everything in Singapore is really great if you are a tourist. Living here is kind of stressful. If you are here for a holiday, there are lots of tourist attractions. There is food everywhere and gyms everywhere as well. The country is really clean. I think because Singapore is small, you can visit almost all the attractions in a single trip. What does your family think of your modelling fame? Initially, they were not that supportive as it is not a stable job. However, I persevered and eventually showed results. My family started to believe in me and became supportive. During Manhunt International, my family even flew to Thailand to watch the finals. It was really heartwarming for me. When did you start a career in fitness and what’s the key to success in sculpting your body? I started when I was 21 years old after serving the army (it’s compulsory in

Singapore). I am 27 this year, so basically I have been doing this for six years and counting. I guess the key to success is to be determined and have a strong mind. When everyone else is resting, you are working; when everyone else is playing, you are working as well. Rain or shine, you just have to do it. We hear you had a motorcycle accident. What happened? Man, that’s something I would not want to go through again [laughs]. Long story short, I was changing lanes, I checked my blind spot and there was no car. After changing lanes, all of a sudden I got hit from behind. My bike skidded and I rolled out of it, getting abrasions on my arm, elbow and back. I would say I was really lucky to only suffer such injuries. It caused me inconvenience in moving around because it hurt badly, but now after three weeks I am a lot better and working out again. You are working on a fitness book? Yes, I am actually trying to move to Taiwan because Singapore’s market is just too saturated. My agent there is going to project me as a celebrity trainer as well as doing some modelling and hopefully some drama and things like that. The book will be in Mandarin, of course, as >>

>> it is supposed to be published in Taiwan. I will definitely let you guys know when it’s done. How many languages do you speak? Sad to say, only two: English and Mandarin. Your Wikipedia page says you have a Chemical Process degree. What is that and are you ever going to use it? Yes, at polytechnic in Singapore I majored in Polymer. Basically, it’s experimenting using plastics to create things. I don’t think I am ever going to use it because it is just not my cup of tea. What’s your favorite meal for keeping fit? I have a concoction for my breakfast and meal replacements, so I am gonna let you know it today. It is very easy to prepare, hence its the favorite food for me. It consists of milk, oatmeal, fruits like banana or avocado, protein powder, berries and honey. I throw everything into a blender and make it into a shake and drink it. It is filling and full of nutrition. Where’s your favorite spot to vacation? I always like my vacation to be chilled and relaxed, so any place with nice beach and some outdoor activities. Places like Boracay and the Gold Coast are at the top of the list. Are you single or taken? I am seeing someone. You’ve got a massive following online. Do you feel any pressure to be a role model? Not really because I take it as a compliment and motivation for myself to do even better. Of course, haters will be haters and I cannot be a role model for everyone one, but I try my best. What’s the craziest request you’ve been offered by a fan? There are people who offered to send me sexy pictures in exchange for mine, which I declined. Some want to Skype and pay me. It’s all along this line, but that’s about it. Nothing too exaggerated. What is your philosophy of life? I do not really have a philosophy but I want to live happy because honestly we only live once for a few decades, therefore I want to use these few decades to do something that I like which is fulfilling. I am still keeping my faith to fulfill my dream even now.
