LILY ALLEN – SHEEZUS

We haven’t had a good run of albums from our pop divas of late, have we? First Gaga’s overly ambitious/pretentious ArtPop stiffed, then Kylie teamed up with Sia and rather than smartening up Ms Minogue, she was dumbed down to the grating level of Sexercise, easily the pair’s musical nadir. So can Lily help resurrect our faith in beloved pop tarts? The good thing about Lily’s third album is she’s so mouthy it almost doesn’t matter if the music isn’t up to scratch. Despite the first two singles being rather, well, fluffy, there’s plenty of bite elsewhere. It’s clear, though, that motherhood has tempered Lily a little and made her more reflective and a lot less cranky.
