At the very end of Cape Cod, Provincetown is the quintessential gay artists mecca and its beach, Herring Cove, is just as iconic. It’s technically illegal to bare all your bits but rules have never stopped locals and visitors to this bohemian colony from doing things their own way. At the height of summer the beach – and expansive dunes – get their fair share of clothing-free action. Fines may apply but, then again, where’s your ID? Take a bike, jog, walk or drive one mile out of Provincetown proper.
