SMALL TOWN BOY Jonathan Brownell brings big time wow factor to 2014’s Sexiest Men Alive. Hailing from the sleepy village of Oakfield in upstate New York, hunky Jonathan rocketed to New York City to pursue personal training, fitness modelling and acting. A lifelong athlete, he played basketball, baseball and semi-pro football until his sports dreams were sidelined by heartbreak after the breakup of his first love. Jonathan rebounded, finding success on the pages of fitness and health magazines and an acting career that’s now gaining momentum.

Tasked with finding the ideal man to front DNA’s Sexiest Men Alive, photographer Peter D Brown went to his friend Mike Lyon at Silver Models. “I said I wanted somebody new and special: a great face and an exceptional natural physique, not a regular model type. Mike said he had just the guy in Jonathan, whose career he predicted going far, very quickly.”

Peter took one look and agreed. “He had just the right balance of natural boyish good looks and strong masculine sex appeal with a fun, spirited attitude. I could see that he has a special spark!”

In person, Jonathan is genuine and open; a good-natured, earnest small town guy on his way up. When not exercising, travelling or riding dirt bikes, Jonathan enjoys doing “spontaneous things” and dreams of one day owning a husky dog.

Says Peter Brown of this cover shoot, “We worked together having fun with the shots. Jonathan liked going between being the athletic muscly macho guy, the playful sexy tease and the goof ball. He takes serious joy in sculpting his physique and happily isn’t shy about showing off the results of his dedication. At one point, I suggested spraying some water would cool him off and bring out his muscle definition. Grinning, he grabbed his sports water bottle and started to drench himself!”

No complaints when Jonathan starts doing his spontaneous things…
