REIGN SUPREME
The highlight of Paris Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter show was the much-hyped collaboration between New York streetwear brand Supreme and luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
This isn’t the first time the two brands have been see together – legally. In 2000, Louis Vuitton filed a lawsuit against Supreme after it created a skate deck incorporating its logo into Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram. Seventeen years later and time really does heal all wounds.
Rumours of the potential collaboration began when Supreme’s founder James Jebbia was spotted front row at Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer show last year, despite the two brand’s rocky history.
The collaborations is bigger than most one-off collections consisting of bags, clothing, keychains, sunglasses and scarfs, making the demand even greater. Perhaps as a nod to the past, the collection features a skate deck that comes with its own Louis Vuitton monogrammed case. Pre-orders began moments after the show, cementing the collection and collaboration as a huge success.
The collection is rumoured to drop on July 17 at select Louis Vuitton stores, which gives you enough time to start saving. Especially if you want one of the icon trunks which will set you back a cool $USD68,500. Double the price for the regular Louis Vuitton trunk. It does have two names on it though, so double the price is only fair!
