RIVERDALE

-

No one expected a comic book popular among teens in the 1940s to get a television remake today, but with Riverdale The CW delivers the recognisable world of Archie comics but with a distinctly darker, sexier feel. Think Twin Peaks meets Gossip Girl.

The show opens with t he mysterious death of Riverdale High’s star quarterback as students return for t he new school year. Hunky New Zealand actor KJ Apa stars as iconic redhead Archie Andrews in his f irst big US role and has really become ripped for t he part (and frequently misplaces his shirt). The central plot rotates around t he love triangle between Betty, Archie and Veronica from t he comic books. Betty’s gay bestie Kevin Keller also has a big role and is “friends-but-mostly-benefits” with a closeted jock at school.
