DNA Magazine - - FROM THE EDITOR -

DNA’s Facebook page reported that two young men in Banda Aceh province in Indonesia are going to be caned because they have been convicted of the “crime” of homosexuality. The couple’s home was invaded by a local vigilante mob, which lead to their arrest. DNA readers reacted strongly, with comments including: • It’s only a matter of time until Indonesia is an Islamic republic with all the vile human rights abuses it entails. – Jason Van Der Velden • Skip Indonesia in your destinations – Red Khan • Aceh has been handed cultural and legal “autonomy” so that they would not leave Indonesia. Therefore, they now have the right to exercise their barbaric medieval religious rules/tortures. So much for that religion of peace idea they like to spout. – Rod Edmonds • This is horrible. Shit like this needs to stop! – Daniel Buckner DNA Editor, Andrew Creagh, has started a petition, “Stop Caning Of Gay Men In Banda Aceh” which is still available to sign online.
