HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR – OMNION

On album #4 this American/ European collective again cunningly brew a hybrid of futuristic cool retro-electro. Lead single Controller, featuring Faris Badwan of English rockers The Horrors, might just be the best dancefloor filler Depeche Mode never released. Faris also contributes vocals on Through Your Atmosphere, a pensive electropop trance anthem for a new age. Another highlight, Wildchild, featuring big voiced Rouge Mary, is readymade to “lipsync for your life” to, while the throbbing My Curse And Cure is queer heartbreak to a disco beat. Omnion suggests Andy Butler and co are keen to offer more than just trendsetting dance, with a number of decidedly downbeat tracks, yet they remain one of the most exciting bands in the evolving clubbing universe.
