GRIZZLY BEAR – PAINTED RUINS

-

Who said indie rock and gay voices are incompatible? For their fifth proper album, Brooklyn cuties Grizzly Bear are ready to re-educate us all. Mourning Sound and Three Rings clang exactly as you’d imagine the queer offspring of The Killers and U2 would. While it’s epic in scope and would sound awesome turned up loud on a road trip across Route 66, Painted Ruins also offers a subtle homo take on the genre. We guess lead singer’s Ed Droste’s divorce from his long term partner, interior designer Chad McPhall, influenced much of the soul-searching here. FYI: Grizzly Bear are embarking on a world tour to promote this album so get your paws ready for details of their global Ruins.
