Why? A certain megastar called Britney Spears was announced as this year’s headline act.

It is quite a scoop for the city of Brighton And Hove’s Pride event, which a mere five years ago was on its knees. Financially, that is. Not just in the bushes surrounding Preston Park, where the main festival takes place every year. Although that happens, too.

In a statement, Britney said: “I’m so excited to be kicking off my UK tour this summer at Brighton Pride! I guarantee it’s going to be a night to remember and can’t wait to sing and dance with all of my LGBT+ fans.”
