Skimming serenely under the mainstream media radar, bisexual/ gender fluid Mr Furman loves nothing better than rocking-out on stage in a bit of red lippy and a floral dress. Hey, that’s how most of our Saturday nights seem to end up these days, too, Ezra! Bringing a touch of the WTFs to planet pop, he insists his sophomore solo album should henceforth be known as his “Queer Springsteen” album (a nod to ’80s rock god, Bruce Springsteen with his butch butt and weight-trained guns). Debut single Love You So Bad gives us a good case of Bryan Ferry in Roxy Music, while Driving Down To LA reminds us of a kind of kinky Kurt Cobain from Nirvana. There’s plenty of angst here, though admittedly, if you’re a bisexual, dress-wearing, rock star in the US these days you’d have an awful lot to seriously vent about. Flaming awesome.
