10 HOT TIPS FOR GROOMS-TO-BE
No. 1 | Download a wedding planner app for your smartphone. I love the WeddingHappy app that allows for two grooms to organize every detail and leave nothing to chance – very cool!
No. 2 | Book in to see your dentist at least three months before the big day for a checkup and clean. Teeth need to be healthy and in good shape before you even think about brightening your smile.
No. 3 | Once your teeth have been given the all-healthy green light. Discuss teeth whitening with your dentist. I suggest the dentist’s at-home whitening trays. This professional whitening is super effective. Anything you buy in the supermarket is not going to help you dazzle anyone!
No. 4 | Plan, book and confirm beauty and hair appointments well in advance. Also, have a Plan B prepared just in case something goes amiss. (I am not talking about your fiancé here, I mean your hair appointment.)
No. 5 | Fake bronzing needs to be done days before the big day. Absolutely NO instant tanning on the day of the wedding, unless you want the sheets after your first married morning to look like you pooped the bed. In love “forever” or not, this might be the end of the honeymoon before it begins!
No. 6 | Have your hair cut scheduled seven days before wedding day. This will give it plenty of time to settle in and lose that “just cut” look. Also, this gives you time to scout for a wig or hair weft if something goes awry!
No. 7 | Book into a skin clinic to have some Radio Frequency Skin Tightening treatments. Preferably book a series of six, six weeks out from wedding day. Nothing firms the skin like this treatment. The RF heats your skin so that it gives an instant firming effect and over a sixweek period helps rebuild the collagen and elastin. Say “I do” looking, literally, younger than when you met!
No. 8 | Your hands and nails are going to be on show if you intend flashing off your Harry Winston jewels to all and sundry. This means a manicure (and pedicure too) is a must for the groom-to-be. Have a manicure once a week for the month before your wedding. Nails can take some time to get into shape. Speed up the results by applying cuticle cream each night before bed. Perhaps do this in private – it can be a real passion killer!
No. 9 | Have a “run through” day a week before the wedding in which you use all the products that you will use on yourself on the Big Day. This prevents any Big Day Disasters, such as when you realise you are allergic to that new skin firming serum you were recommended from your friendly cosmetic counter chick.
No. 10 | Do not, under any circumstance, let your hair stylist convince you to try something new like streaks or a new colour in your hair. There is plenty of time to experiment once you have the ring on your finger and divorce is the only way he can leave you! One treatment, however, that you can have the week before is a keratin treatment. This will just soften your hair and make it more manageable. This is my secret to making my crazy hair controllable and upstaging all the grooms at every wedding I attend!
