This much-awarded Aussie singer/songwriter took two years off to polish her fifth album. Why so tardy? Missy fell in love, got married and can’t stop gushing about how happy she is. Wisely avoiding becoming a soppy Ed Sheeran copycat, Missy has instead borrowed producers from Troye Sivan and Coldplay. This time she’s plunging down the electronic path while retaining a warm organic vibe, wrapping it all in her gift storytelling. Album opener Futon Couch details how she met her man.

“This is the happiest song on the record, so I wanted to start with it,” Missy explains. “It’s not often I write a straight-out, ‘Fuck it, I love you!’ song.” Ah, the joy of the honeymoon phase.
