We’re guessing Xtina named her sixth album Liberation to give herself an almighty kick in the cajones to get back on track after babies, talent shows and, well, what else has she been doing exactly? The title track might not be her best (blame Kanye West), but asserts her intention to be cutting edge R&B, rather than safe pop. Second single, Twice, is a return to the power ballad diva we love – think Beautiful and You Lost Me – complete with gospel choir. Her BFF Demi Lovato shows up on #metoo belter Fall In Line, likely to eat up the charts in its own right. Fans should also prepare for a major tour this year, Xtina’s first in a decade, to promote her liberating new record.
