The trailers for an important new gay movie, Boy Erased, have garnered hot buzz. Based on Garrard Conley’s memoir, it stars Oscar-winning Aussies Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe as an all-American religious couple who send their gay son to “conversion therapy”.

Directed by Aussie, actor Joel Edgerton, Troye plays a blond bombshell (of course!) named Gary. Troye felt a strong connection to the material, and it’s the first acting job he’s taken since 2014’s Spud 3: Learning To Fly.

It’s due in cinemas in November, which is usually when film companies get their potential Academy Award winners lined-up.

Troye contributed a haunting ballad, Revelation to the soundtrack. He says he, “couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this project”.
