For a while now, Spain has continued to step up its tourism promotions aimed at LGBT travellers. This year’s FITUR (Fería Internacional de Turismo) fair in Madrid (also see above, under Colombia) included a dedicated section on gay and lesbian travellers. Spain is seeking to overtake France, Germany and the UK as Europe’s number one LGBT destination and it might just get there. Sitges is, of course, a favourite on the international gay party circuit and Ibiza is, well, Ibiza. Barcelona’s Circuit Party (pictured) is hugely popular, and its tourist board publishes a biannual guide for LGBT visitors.
