6. IRELAND

Tourism Ireland began promoting weddings and honeymoons to LGBTIQ visitors from Britain, North America, the Nordic countries, Australia, France, Spain, Italy and Germany following the “Yes” result in the country’s 2015 same-sex marriage referendum. Prior to Australia’s plebiscite, Ireland was the only country to put the issue to a popular vote and 62 per cent of the mostly-Catholic electorate voted yes. Ireland’s west coast also hosts The Outing – an LGBT music and matchmaking festival – every year. The event mixes blind dates and speed dating with music, comedy and performance in the lovely little village of Lisdoonvarna (pictured).
