THE CARPENTERS – WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Finally getting the royal treatment they deserve, easy listening luminaries The Carpenters’ timeless back catalogue is revisited with the help of The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. After doing the same previously with Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Roy Orbison and The Beach Boys, this album marks the first time the RPO has the actual artist playing a key role in the recording process. With Karen sadly having died of complications from anorexia in the 1980s, brother Richard serves as the album’s producer, arranger and conductor. With glorious, room-filling new instrumentation, alongside Karen’s original haunting, melancholy vocals, Richard has crafted what can only be deemed as true pop perfection for Rainy Days And Mondays, and all the days in between.
