We pay our respects to the Prince estate for preserving the pop icon’s legacy while still finding ways to keep fans happy. The latest installment is a 15-track album of previously unreleased songs he bestowed upon other artists. Cue up the originals of Manic Monday (a hit for The Bangles), The Glamorous Life (Sheila E), Love… Thy Will Be Done (Martika) and, of course, Nothing Compares 2 U, which literally gave Sinead O’Connor a career until she went mad… numerous times. Our only quibble is the omission of the original version of Sheena Easton’s Sugar Walls, an ode to her lady garden, which was a hit back in innocent 1985. Hearing Prince’s version of that naughty nugget would have been truly original.
