When sexy red-head Eddie decided on a career as a dancer, he told himself he wanted two things: to work for the best in the business, and to travel. Fast forward to today, and he’s enjoyed global success, performing at some of the world’s biggest events, including Sydney Mardi Gras and NYC Pride.

Alongside his work in far flung destinations, Eddie has been featured in the sizzling Red Hot calendar, danced in music videos for Drag Race alumni Willam and Shangela, bagged a spot in an episode of Will And Grace and even got the opportunity to dance onstage with the Queen Of Pop herself!

“I ran into someone who worked for Madonna at her concert… he had seen me go-go before and asked if I wanted to go up on stage to dance… afterwards, she started talking to me, but English is my second language – when I’m nervous I don’t understand it so well. Next thing you know we are talking about how I’m covered in freckles, except for my penis. It wasn’t until I saw the video that I realised what had come out of my mouth!”

Being in this year’s Sexiest Men Alive list holds an extra special significance for Eddie, who still hasn’t forgotten his humble beginnings. When he was 18, and living in his home country of Brazil, he would take a 30-minute bus ride just to read DNA magazine.

“I loved it, but I couldn’t afford it. I dreamed of looking like the models. Growing up, I was told so many times I looked too pale and unattractive; it kills your confidence… but now, years later, to be featured in the Sexiest Men Alive edition is wild! Everything has come full circle! All the hurt I experienced washes away and it creates room for gratitude in knowing that being different is what got me here.”
