hello

As we see the days get chillier and the sun set earlier, it’s the perfect time to spend a few hours in the kitchen.

For me, making the most of winter means slowing down, roasting gorgeous dinners, making soups for lunches and baking sweet treats. I love breathing deeply as the comforting aromas waft through the house, inviting friends and family. It’s the perfect balance for a busy life. My life is always pretty busy, but lately it’s stepped up a notch, which makes time at home with my favourite people all the more important. I’ve been dipping into the recipes from this issue for a few weeks now, from the testing stages through to shoot days and finally seeing them in print. And they’ve certainly helped me ease into this winter weather, and even look forward to it getting cooler. For busy weeknights, we have pasta, roasts and speedy dinners, as well as our amazing cover recipes – three seriously easy soups. There’s plenty of comfort food, too, from indulgent meat-free mains (think pies, pasta and roast veg) to our delicious updates of classic meatloaf (page 108). Lately I’ve been swapping cocoa for cacao, and our recipes on page 132 pair it with luscious coconut – I hope you love them as much as I do, and that you enjoy getting cosy with all the recipes in this issue!
