donna hay - - THINGS I LOVE -

I have been told on numerous occasions that buying a gift for me beyond flowers or a bottle of bubbles is extremely difficult (and I have to admit they’re right). But sometimes you get the most unusual-yet-perfect gift and it very quickly becomes one of your all-time sentimental favourites. Last Christmas I was given this Leatherman by my boat skipper Aaron – he had it engraved with my name and the Sydney to Hobart offshore sailing race that we were about to embark on the next day. I wouldn’t usually consider myself a Leatherman kind of girl, but from the start to the finish of the race, my Leatherman and I were inseparable. Tucked away in the pocket of my (very serious) offshore wet weather jacket, it became a comforting weight. I hadn’t raced offshore before and didn’t really know what lay ahead of me, but even though I didn’t get the chance to use it, I felt absolutely prepared for anything. It now lives in ‘that’ draw in my kitchen. It’s the most perfect ‘I’m-Prepared-For-Anything’ present – I may even start taking it to meetings and the filming of the new series, so come what may, I’m all set!
