Dubbo group continues paying it forward

-

What is the concept behind Pay It Forward?

If you have something you no longer need or want, it could bless someone else. No matter what the item or items are, someone may really need it.

How long has the group been running?

I started Dubbo Paying It Forward back in 2014.

What prompted you to start it?

I was following Paying It Forward in Bathurst and thought it was something Dubbo needed.

What is your current involvement?

At the end of last year, I invited another admin to help take some of the load as I am a mum of four. Shell and Kath Abel help run the page now which is fantastic.

What are some of the feel-good stories you have heard through connecting people via the group?

Back in 2014, Paying It Forward helped a single father of two out at Christmas. He was so incredibly grateful for the assistance. He received a food hamper, along with toys for his children. The look of gratification on his face was incredible and that’s just one story. There has been MANY!

How have you personally benefited

I just love helping others in a time of need.

There are now two Facebook groups for this region: Paying It Forward Wellington/dubbo and Pay It Forward Dubbo.

Ways to pay it forward:

z Pay for someone’s cup of coffee z Get the next person’s food bill, cost of petrol

Help someone out in need

Give away items you no longer need such as clothing, books or jeweller z Host Pay It Forward activities in your office, school, church or community

Donate to a worthwhile cause Become a Pay It Forward Day ambassador and help raise awareness in your circles of influence z Let others know about Pay It Forward Day through your social media channels

Pay It Forward Day is on April 28.
