requiring the replacement of switchgear and connections between the underground cables and the padmount substations themselves,” he said.

Further repairs to the electricity network will be required in the coming weeks to return it to its normal configuration.

Padmount substations convert high voltage electricity into a level which can be used in homes and businesses.

I think the last thing we need is for the loss of any services and facilities, especially when it comes to having a stores depot in Dubbo which will keep a heap of spare parts, and the workforce of six people who know what they’ve got and how to dispatch those parts. IT’S great to see that while health services across the nation are struggling with demands and cost increases, some things do improve.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDS SE) is launching a new mental health service partnership in Dubbo to help people with severe and complex mental health problems.

Funded by the Western NSW Primary Health Network, the RFDS Mental Health Nurse Support Service will bring together the RFDS SE mental health team and local GPS.

“This partnership is essential because GPS often don’t have the specific resources to deal with such cases,” according to Laurinne Campbell, a clinical nurse specialist in the RFDS mental health team.

“Because there are few specialist facilities outside of the big cities, many end up in local hospitals and in-patient settings.

“The partnership with the GPS is about helping clients to stay well so they can participate in and contribute to their communities and reducing hospital admissions,” she said.

The Flying Doctor base has expanded enormously since its humble beginnings and it’s so important because it also brings so many specialist outreach clinics and help to some of the state’s most isolated communities.
