Signage at Devil’s Hole Reserve

-

Locations for CCTV cameras Readers question:

New locations have been earmarked in the CBD for CCTV cameras, where will these be?

Council response:

Further analysis is to be undertaken with NSW Police, (local security company) Simtec and Dubbo Regional Council staff to determine priorities in relation to the expansion of and upgrade of both the Dubbo and Wellington camera systems.

In essence, until the further analysis is done, the actual locations of new cameras in an expanded network are still yet to be determined and further work would be required before any funds that become available could be spent.

Reader question:

Is council going to put up signage at Devil’s Hole Reserve? This is not only a shared pedestrian zone, but also an off-leash dog park area.

Dubbo Regional Council Recreation and Open Space manager Ian Mcalister responds:

Dubbo Regional Council has identified Devil’s Hole Reserve as a leash-free area, so people can take dogs down to the little beach there and let them off for a swim in the river. We could never fence a leash free area because it’s flood prone.

In terms of whether we’d put up signage, we’re currently in the process of reviewing signage across all our recreational land. It’s been going on for about four weeks and we still have a lot to do.

If there’s signage lacking, we’ll probably put in a program to remove signs we no longer require or put signs where we do require them.

For now, it’s important to be conscious while enjoying Devil’s Hole, that there are other people in the area. If you have a stack of dogs all off the leash at the same time, there’s that potential there could be problems.

It’s identified as a leash-free area but there is an expectation that people will manage their own dogs.
