Paramount Club in strong hands

-

AFTER another successful year on and off the court in 2017, Paramount Tennis Club has elected Paul Handsaker as president for his third successive term.

Karen Armstrong will serve her 20th consecutive year as secretary, an act of selfless generosity acknowledged by everyone involved with tennis in the city.

“Karen has been a generous, hard-working member of the club for most of her life in Dubbo. Her remarkable contribution is greatly appreciated. She devotes all of her spare time to tennis in Dubbo, either playing, coaching, organising or administering and is never too busy to welcome newcomers to our club,” Publicity Officer Charlie Whiteley told Photo News.

Craig Taylor continues as treasurer.

Paul Handsaker presented Life Memberships to Mark Campbell and Mandy Wells in recognition of their countless years of outstanding service while Bev Chippendale was named 2017 Club Person of the Year.

“Paramount has started the 2018 season in a strong position with over 100 players competing across the A, B and C Grade night competitions while junior involvement has also increased in recent years,” President Handsaker told members at the AGM.

“The club is in great shape and that is largely thanks to the hard work of the committee and others that are involved with the club,” he added.

“We are always looking at ways to improve the club on and off the court and we are lucky to have a number of people with different skills on the committee to help us achieve this. It is very much a team effort and I’m looking forward to another great year at the club,” Paul said.
