ORANA Residents of Indian Sub-continental Heritage (ORISCON) held an inaugural event to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, including a special visit from the Groovy Booby Bus and Pink Sari representatives.

Until a few years ago, women from the Indian subcontinent had the lowest breast screening rates in NSW. Since Pink Sari began, these rates have significantly improved.

The men organised and ran the family event, including the set up and cooking, so that the ladies could enjoy themselves. The women all enjoyed a few games of netball, which saw friendly rivalry between the teams – Nepal, Sri Lanka, Fiji and India.
