Dubbo Airport roads to be named after community members

DUBBO Regional Council recently adopted names for three new streets in new developmen­ts at the Dubbo City Regional Airport.

Walters Way, Weyand Drive and Howe Circuit recognise the contributi­on to the Airport and Emergency Services precinct under developmen­t by Olaf Weyand, Noel Howe and Max Walters.

Olaf Weyand establishe­d Airlink Airlines in 1974, which eventually became part of Regional Express (REX) Airlines. Mr Howe was a respected flight instructor, flying school owner and founder of the Dubbo Aero Club, and Mr Walters played a role in establishi­ng the Dubbo Rescue Squad and NSW Volunteer Rescue Associatio­n.
