Dubbo Air­port roads to be named af­ter com­mu­nity mem­bers

DUBBO Re­gional Coun­cil re­cently adopted names for three new streets in new de­vel­op­ments at the Dubbo City Re­gional Air­port.

Wal­ters Way, Weyand Drive and Howe Cir­cuit recog­nise the con­tri­bu­tion to the Air­port and Emergency Ser­vices precinct un­der devel­op­ment by Olaf Weyand, Noel Howe and Max Wal­ters.

Olaf Weyand es­tab­lished Air­link Air­lines in 1974, which even­tu­ally be­came part of Re­gional Ex­press (REX) Air­lines. Mr Howe was a re­spected flight in­struc­tor, fly­ing school owner and founder of the Dubbo Aero Club, and Mr Wal­ters played a role in es­tab­lish­ing the Dubbo Res­cue Squad and NSW Vol­un­teer Res­cue As­so­ci­a­tion.
