Dubbo Har­ness Rac­ing Club hosts Box­ing Night Meet­ing

AN ex­cel­lent crowd was in at­ten­dance at the Dubbo Har­ness Rac­ing Club’s Box­ing Night meet­ing where many fam­i­lies and friends tra­di­tion­ally com­plete their Christ­mas cel­e­bra­tions with the Dubbo trots.

With eight very com­pet­i­tive races, Goul­burn Trainer/driver Ben Bat­tle was suc­cess­ful in win­ning the fea­ture event, The Colleen O’neill Me­mo­rial, on Jakes Way. Ben also drove a win­ning dou­ble with Whos­tole­myp­i­geon.

Two other driv­ers also drove win­ning dou­bles with Madi Young on Alabama Ace and Play­ing Ark­a­bella, and Jake Davis


on Studleigh Kris­ten and Rays Choice.

Race 1 was a bat­tle of the lo­cals with Brad Peis­ley’s Brad­ness Abuela edg­ing out Jac­quie Ing­ham’s Rose­upon­her by a nose.

Race 8 was taken out by Mck­ayler Barnes on Kyle Shan­non, be­ing named in hon­our of her fa­ther Kyle Barnes, a lead­ing Dubbo reins­man for many years who passed away three years ago.

A Pen­rith Pan­thers jersey signed by the Pan­thers team was auc­tioned on be­half of the Yeo fam­ily. Pen­rith’s Cap­tain Isaah Yeo was on hand to present the jersey to the suc­cess­ful bid­der, David Jones. The Yeo fam­ily do­nated the pro­ceeds of the auc­tion to the Molly Croft Ap­peal.
