Google will tell you more about those two movies.

My diary continued with that there were only 14 cars in attendance... well it was a Tuesday.

Fast forward to Sunday, February 22, 1981, and “Mad Max” and “Death Race 2000” packed the drive-in to overflowing with a huge crowd parked in front of the big screen.

It’s an interesting coincidence that “Mad Max” is now scheduled to return to the Westview Drive-in on Saturday, January 26, 2019.

The almost miraculous return of the “Biggest Screen in the West” has taken us all by surprise. What a pleasure it is to walk among the cars and hear the laughter as families talk about the old days and the young get the real chance to understand the fascination of actually attending a real working local drive-in. Dubbo Westview Drive-in is living history.

Today’s drive-in audience certainly comes prepared. Tables, chairs, mozzie spray and enough food and drink to feed your family, friends and anyone else who drops by prior to the movie.

It was a hot one last Friday, January 4, and many car aircons were collectively rolling out a cool tune. Every second car had bonus sound enforcement, especially with Freddie Mercury and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” on the big screen.

You just knew that the rock was going to be loud. Classic cars parked at Westview Drive-in last Friday for the screening of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Another drive-in highlight is the now classic cars and panel vans that appear on a regular basis.

Make sure you go for a walk and take in these blasts from the past, and if you love classic cars, make sure that you grab a ticket to the special Dubbo Cars and Coffee screening of “American Graffiti” on Saturday, March 2.

How good is it going to be with an amazing collection of local and visiting “mean machines” parked at the drive-in for that classic American car film!
