Former MP finds the right work-life balance

- By JOHN RYAN

WITH state and federal elections due in the next few months, former Member for Parkes Tony Lawler is glad to be out of that game.

He said he’s found a balance between spending some time up on the coast and working part-time at the West Dubbo chemist shop he established some years ago.

“I live in a little village on the central coast which is really nice, but we still operate the pharmacies in Delroy and Narromine and Trangie, and I come back and forth when someone needs a day off,” Mr Lawler told Dubbo Photo

He said it’s great he can enjoy a coastal lifestyle without losing the connection to family and friends out west.

“Oh mate, it’s the best of both worlds, I’ve always loved being in Dubbo and it’s fantastic coming back. When I’m in the shop some of the girls say I don’t really pull my weight because I’m always standing around talking to people, but that’s sort of the enjoyable part of it.

“But to keep my hand in, checking the pharmacies and being part of the community, I couldn’t have it any better,” he said.
