It’s all about choice at UPA Bracken House

-

UPA Bracken House is piloting an innovative aged care funding model called Consumer Directed Care which assists aged care residential clients to make their own choices about when and how their care is delivered. For example, they can choose when they prefer to eat and shower.

“Home care packages already offer this, but as of July 1 when the government introduces new standards, the focus in residential facilities will be on helping consumers make individual choices,” UPA Western Region regional manager Elaine Baillie said.

“We have been running a trial at Bracken House with 11 residents and which will last three months. We have two team leaders who discuss with our clients what their goals are and explain how they these can be achieved. The staff have been trained specifically in consumer directed care.”

If you would like to know more information about the Consumer Directed Care funding model, contact Elaine Baillie on 5852 4700 or find UPA at the Seniors Expo at the Dubbo RSL on Wednesday, February 20. FOR many retirees soaring energy costs are a major concern but seniors looking to relocate to Oak Tree Retirement Villages are set to save as the Group commits to flick the switch on solar and allocate 100 percent of the benefits back to the residents.

Leading provider of Retirement Villages, The Oak Tree Group, will provide on all new developments a 4KW solar panel system and battery storage unit which has the potential to deliver 6KW hours of energy for resident’s individual use.

“Our commitment to solar means you can now think of our villages as self-sufficient solar farms, this means all energy produced is utilised within the village community,” The Oak Tree Group managing director Mark Bindon said.

“With seniors now more focussed on their income in retirement than ever, we are certain this is a step in the right direction.”
