Dubbo College cricketers claiming the date

-

ALTHOUGH it was 2013 when the teachers from St Pius last won the annual battle with the parents to finish the school’s swimming carnival, it was a decade in the making!

Deputy Principal Greg Cant and long-serving teacher Lisa Hunt were the only two members of the 2013 team to swim THE second annual Dubbo College versus Ex-collegians cricket match is scheduled for Monday, March 11. The T20 match will commence at 4 o’clock preceded by some skills drills with current and former stars.

Dubbo College teacher and former student Craig May has already recruited ex-collegians Wayne Munro, Lee Price, Wayne Dunlop and CYMS rugby league coach Jarryn Powyer for what should be a corker of a match.

this year, but with new blood in Ngali Shaw, Year 6 teacher David Schwager and “part-timer”, yours truly, accepting the challenge from parents, the teachers held off two teams of stars.

“The parents’ phones were running hot as they recruited absent parents for the match race but even after the ‘fly-ins’ arrived, the hard-working staff were determined to gift retiring Principal Heather Irwin with a much-cherished piece of silverware,” a jubilant Mr Cant exclaimed with a laugh! STEPHEN Cuff held off strong challenges from local riders Kurt Eather off 10m, Jason Farr (100m), Tim Hines (110m) and Steve Mcmahon 160m to take the prestigious Hazell Wheelrace trophy.

Stephen Cuff is pictured receiving the sash and Cliff Hazell Memorial Trophy from Margaret Hazell, widow of the late club stalwart.
