Deadly Blues: In­dige­nous league play­ers tested

LEAGUE stars Mark O’me­ley, Ronny Gibbs, Nathan Black­lock and Tom Learoyd-lars put some Un­der 15s kids through their paces at Apex Oval dur­ing the school hol­i­days.

As part of the NSWRL Deadly Blues Pro­gram, the four NRL play­ers ran a se­ries of skills drills and ses­sions fo­cussed on health, ed­u­ca­tion and per­sonal devel­op­ment.

Each of the par­tic­i­pants was then tested on their phys­i­cal fitness and some rec­om­men­da­tions were made for in­di­vid­ual ar­eas on which to work.

Chrys­tal Thomp­son and other NRL/ CRL Devel­op­ment Of­fi­cers as­sisted through­out the day and will be on hand to guide th­ese ris­ing play­ers through­out the next few months.

The WACHS team who de­liv­ered the Healthy Life­style Choices and quit smok­ing ed­u­ca­tional com­po­nents of the day. NSW prop Mark O’me­ley coached CYMS ju­nior Matt Burton – the Blues cap­tain – to vic­tory in NSW Un­der 20s State of Ori­gin win over Qld.
